Cheryl joined Clarevia as an Executive in Residence in 2026. In this role, she works alongside the Clarevia team and portfolio company leaders to evaluate emerging opportunities and help entrepreneurs build, finance, scale, and lead high-impact healthcare companies.

Cheryl brings decades of leadership experience across biotechnology, medical devices, regenerative medicine, drug delivery, orthopedics, and women’s health. Throughout her career, she has helped organizations translate differentiated science into commercially viable products and enduring companies, advising leaders on corporate and product strategy, organizational development, clinical and regulatory planning, commercialization, financing, governance, and strategic partnerships.

Most recently, Cheryl served for six years as President and CEO of Anika Therapeutics, a publicly traded global joint preservation company focused on early-intervention orthopedic solutions. She became Executive Chair of Anika’s Board of Directors in February 2026 and has served on the board since 2018.

Previously, Cheryl served as President, CEO, and Director of Microchips Biotech, where she repositioned the company around an implantable, long-acting drug-delivery platform, built its leadership team, advanced its clinical and regulatory strategy, and expanded its intellectual property portfolio. Under her leadership, Microchips established a strategic partnership with Teva Pharmaceuticals, secured funding from VCs and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and was ultimately acquired by Daré Bioscience in 2019.

Earlier in her career, Cheryl spent more than a decade at Zimmer, now Zimmer Biomet, including serving as Senior Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer. As a corporate officer, she led global research and development, clinical, quality, regulatory, advanced technology, medical affairs, and biologics functions. She also originated and built the company’s biologics business, supported numerous product launches and clinical programs, and led acquisitions, licensing agreements, and strategic partnerships.

Cheryl is also an experienced director of public and private healthcare companies and has advised a number of venture and PE firms. Her board experience spans biotechnology, medical technology, diagnostics, orthopedics, neuroscience, women’s health, and advanced materials, giving her a broad perspective on the strategic, operational, and governance challenges companies face at different stages of growth. She is also a member of the National Academy of Engineering.
